All {shook} Up

So, Wednesday started out well, and by well I mean a total flop.  I went to work, like I was scheduled to do, and after I got out on the floor, realized that I wasn't on the schedule.  Llllllaaaaammmmmeeeee. So I threw the deuces and came home.  The hubs was still asleep, considering it was only 545 in the A.M.   Funny thing was that about 20 mins later, he sprang up and said "Don't you have to work today!?!?!"

Yeah, I thought I did too.

Anywho, I worked today (Thursday) instead and I'll be a workin' tomorrow too.  Hopefully I won't be as mixed up tomorrow as I have been all day today.  I mean seriously, I have screwed up the date 20 times today.  If it weren't for my pod-mate, I probably would have screwed up a lot more stuff.  She seriously kept me going today. The up side to this bad week?  This girl gets a 3 day weekend, thanks to my awesome boss.

So back to Wednesday.  I slept in, like wwwwaaayyy in, till 10:30.  When I got up and around, I scooped up the brat, grabbed the camera, and headed to downtown.  My photography assignment was to get out and take pictures.  So, that what I was doing.  LoRabbit enjoyed going up on the mountain and peeing on everything like a "real dog" would.  She barked and ran around and loved it.  She cracked me up.  And would not sit for a picture.  She cracks me up.

In the mean time, here is what she did when we got home:

Apparently she was worn out from being a "real dog" on the mountain.

So, I should have a super picture filled awesome post on Monday since I have the long weekend and we have some plans with both family and friends.

Just think, tomorrow is Friday!  If I can just make it to 4:30p.m....and not screw anything up too bad.

Fail...

So, I've been kind of a slacker, not just on here, but everywhere.  School, work, life.  Yeah I know...right? I dropped the pottery class that I was going to take (to complete my required hours for financial aid) after one class when he said "it's almost impossible to get an A in this class" yeah right, dude.  Who are you to judge creativity?  So I'm taking photography instead.  We have to do 35mm black and whites, so I'll eventually show off some of my mad skills on here.  I'm so sluggish to go to work in the mornings but I'm ruling that as normal due to the fact that I have to be there at 5:30.  What person wouldn't be sluggish?  On to life, I've been feeling so lazy lately.  If you ask my husband that's normal but even I've noticed a lag in my behavior.

In other not-so-slacking news, I was up bright and early this morning to go to the college and get some homework done, I managed to get one chapter's worth of homework done before calling in quits.  Also, I'm on here typing, so that's an improvement.  I think that the problems boil down to two things: My mattress sucks and I need a vacation.

Last Saturday we went to Bryant to the Ashley store and did the whole "lay on a bunch of mattresses to pick the one you like" thing and ordered one, thank God.  I mean it.  We have had this bed forever and it's super old.  We have been complaining about it for two years and the hubs finally, finally, agreed to order a new one.  That should be fixed in about two weeks.  Next, vacation.  Who wants to donate to the "Brandi and Jamie need a vacation" fund?  All donations will be accepted.  I'm thinking New York, Mexico, or Fiji.  Also, I need "child" care for the brat, so make sure you include some extra for that.

Watermelon Fest/5K

So, this past Saturday was the Watermelon festival in Hope.  I forgot my camera :( so the {few} photos I have were taken on our phones.

I conned my sister-in-law, Jodie, and her best friend Rachael to do the 5k with me, which was a lot of fun!  I really enjoyed it, but the course was a gradual upward slope the entire way, which was not bad except that my thighs felt it the next day!

This was after the race:

We were champs! Okay, not in the "we won the race" way, but we finished, and I shaved 7 mins off my time! Not too shabby for my second race!

If you're not familiar with the watermelon fest, it's really a bunch of craft vendors and watermelon during the day, with concerts and other fun stuff at night.

I know it is called a "Smoke Pot" but I just think people should think before they post signs! Ha!

The hubs as a melon!

We came back that night since there is a tiny brat that needed us:

Excuse the shoes and my foot in the photo but this is the kind of stuff that Lola does when left alone.  Good side is she only does this to her toys not to any of our stuff.  We had baby gated her and Buster in the kitchen so we didn't really have a mess to come home to thankfully!

Overall we had a good time and I got some shelves that I really wanted too!  Thankfully my father in law has a house full of things he didn't realize he had and it saved us the money and trip to Lowe's to get the corner shelves I wanted.  Photos to come later.  Also, as promised, a final photo of our laundry room:

Oh and just for fun, here's a photo of the hubs lookin' all fine before going to dinner with some friends.

Yep, he's handsome, and all mine :)

On to less fun stuff, school starts back tomorrow and I really really really don't want to go back!  Ugh! This summer has gone by way to fast!  So, after spending all day today at the college, I have all my books, and my schedule changed, and ready to go.

Happy Tuesday!

Seeing Red/Guest Bathroom Redo

So, I really, really, REALLY like the color RED.  {It just happens to also be the color of the RAZORBACKS!} As we all know, I painted my front door red last week.  Well, I wanted a red kitchen, like badly.  I still do, but the hubs said “nooooo, I’m not painting it” to which my response was, “I didn’t ask you to paint it, I don’t need your help!” After a nice long argument about how much red and where it should be added, we agreed to paint the front bathroom red and to do an accent wall in the kitchen.  I have all kinds of red accent pieces, and I love them; especially my red tea pot.  I haven’t actually used it yet, but I will, come winter.  My wonderful Nanny gave it to me before she moved back to the north {depressed about that!}.

As you may have seen on my post “Tutu wreath, well, almost” I was given a gift card by a neighbor for the mess in my yard as they have a stone wall built.

Yeah, really thankful my neighbors are so amazing! They are having the company re-sod our yard that gets messed up in the building process.

With that gift card, we bought paint, and some more vinyl flooring. This time to tackle the front bathroom! We chose Valspar Cherry Devine for the color {which turned out to be a little more pink than red-so, a little disappointing} and of course got a two in one paint/primer to save some work…wrong! If you have never painted anything red, you may be unaware {as we were} that the molecules for red are larger than that of blue or yellow. They do not coat evenly, but rather clump together. That is why when you paint a wall red, if you do not do it quickly, and finish the entire wall a.s.a.p., it looks streaky and uneven.

So, here are a couple of before photos:

{After we repainted it the second time!}

I wish someone had told me that before this project.  Moving on, after painting and it looking like vomit, we got another quart of paint and had another go.  This time it worked like a charm.  We took our time doing one wall at a time.  The patience paid off with nice, evenly coated, walls.  We already had a black and clear shower curtain, scentsy, and soap dispenser so we figured it was a good theme to keep.  After letting the paint dry overnight,  we I laid the flooring the next morning.  Once I was done J did get in there and fill any gaps with wood filler and then he put the sealer on, so there’s a little credit for that.

Once all was said and done with the big stuff, it was time to put the room back together.  I wanted to frame the mirror but the plan I had didn’t pan out so this week sometime me and my mom are going to get the stuff and frame it.  I decided at the last  minute that I wanted to take a wine bottle and spray paint it black and put a few flowers in it to sit in the corner, I have to get the flowers tomorrow since it’s way too late to venture into town.  J even got some black receptacles and has ordered me some black switches for the lights.

So, here’s the finished product:

Here's what the brat was up to:
Excuse the laundry, but we do live here :)

I know I have been slacking on posting final photos of my projects, but I promise I will get a few updated photos up this week.  So far, I’m loving the way the house is coming along.  I’m also loving the fact that it hasn’t cost an arm and a leg to do the redecoration.  Now, if I can just convince the hubs that knocking the wall in the master down for French doors is a good idea, and that tearing up the living room and hall carpet is a good idea {I only want carpet in the bedrooms!} then I will be one step closer to what I want in big projects.  I am hoping to get to the kitchen walls within the next month and I have big plans for painting an accent wall in the living room {which I wanted to be a stripe wall but J said “no”} and painting the hall.  I also cannot wait to get around to painting our bedroom and putting up new curtains along with {hopefully} rearranging and maybe finding a steal on a new rug.  One project at a time, right?!?!?

In case you’re wondering {or even if you’re not!}  Here’s my “What I plan to get around to doing” project list that has been okayed by the hubs:
Accent wall in kitchen
Flooring in kitchen
Crown molding throughout house
Accent wall in living room
Entire hallway walls
Change light fixtures in entire house!
Paint spare bedroom {I’m thinking gray}
Create amazing backyard {Why do the yard crashers never come to Lowe’s when I’m there?}
Paint our bedroom!

Hopefully these plans can happen over the next few months.  Hey, it gives me something to write about and you something to read about right?  Anybody want to help?  Yeah, didn’t think so!

So, to end this SUPER long post, I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!

*UPDATE!* I ran to town and got the flowers for the wine bottle vase.  I found these for $1 each at Michael's!

A few of my favorite things...

So I was looking over everything that I love for gettin' sweaty, and thought I would share.

First, I love LOVE L-O-V-E my vibrams.  Barefoot walking at it's best! I've got two pair and really want a new pair.  Maybe my amazing husband (hint, hint, wink, wink J!) will get me a new pair for my birthday!

I have both of those ^ but I really really want the bikila ls:
You can find all of these at this place.
Second, I have fallen in love with bondi bands.  I have always had a horrible time with headbands.  I don't know if my head is an odd shape or what it is but they never stay put.  Well, these don't move, at all. Plus, they have these super cute sayings on them! Mine says "Suck it up, Cupcake"

You can find them here.

Third, and this is a new one for me, but I have fallen in LOVE with Froggtogg Chilly Pads.  I got one today {yeah, I'm already bragging on it!} and cannot stop talking about them!

They are these amazing towels that you get wet, ring out, and they stay dry to the touch and stay cold.

I got mine at a local place but you can get them from ebay or amazon.

Next, compression pants!  I got mine at old navy, since they carry some extended sizes. {Avoiding my soap box post about how nobody makes cute work out clothing for fluffy people!}  They carry up to an XXL which, thankfully I fit what they carry.

On to some wonderful news, my boss gave me the 11th off so I get to do the watermelon 5k!  Yay! I also managed to get my sister in law roped into it along with one of her besties.  Can't wait!

Happy Saturday!
