When I got married (November 2009), I stopped taking birthcontrol.  I started on birthcontrol at a relatively young age, as many do.  It regulates your cycle, helps with acne, all that jazz.  So, I figured it would take a while for my system to regulate and be able to get pregnant. Two months later, I still hadn't started a cycle.  I took pregnancy tests that were negative, so I went to the doctor for a serum (blood) test.  It was also negative, and my doctor informed me that it can take up to six months to restart.  So I waited, and waited, and waited.

Six months had passed and I still didn't have a cycle.  I went to my GYN at this time, and he said that I most likely has poly-cystic ovaries.  I was started on progesterone so that I would start cycles.  We would try this and wait, see if I would start cycles on my own.  I didn't.  I kept taking the hormones but nothing happened.  Finally, in January 2012, we decided we needed to take further steps to try and get pregnant. He started me on Clomid and after six cycles, I had only ovulated once, and it wasn't a strong ovulation.  At the dosage they had increased me to, I should have had ovulated strongly and with no problem.  In August 2013, after almost 4 years of trying on our own, he referred me to a fertility specialist.

We had our first appointment October 21, 2013.  I'll continue to update as we go.
